Making e-technology work
Making e-technology work for business and industry - conference 16-17th June
With only days to go until the Making e-technology work for you online conference on 16 - 17 June, have you decided which sessions you’ll be attending?
Registration is now open for this FREE conference. Even if you have attended similar conferences in previous years, you still have to register. Go to: http://flexiblelearning.net.au/networksevents
If you’re a business or industry representative, then the industry themed presentations on Wednesday 16 June are a must to attend.
In these sessions, representatives from four industry sectors will show how they are embedding e-learning in their workforce development strategies, in partnership with registered training organisations (RTO) and with Industry Integration of E-learning funding and support from the Australian Flexible Learning Framework (Framework).
The sessions will include real-life examples of how industry is using e-learning as a flexible and engaging training option, and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions about the challenges and rewards of implementing e-learning.
The four industry sectors are:
1. Community housing
Lead organisation: NSW Federation of Housing Associations
Lead RTO partner: TAFE NSW Western Sydney Institute
Time: 1:30pm-2:00pm (AEST)
This presentation will show how the NSW community housing industry sector is using e-learning tools – including online games, wikis, glossaries, chats, discussion forums, resource collections, and role plays – to encourage its members to update their industry qualifications. An online mentoring circle is also being implemented to support learners in the workplace.
2. Child, youth, and family services
Industry partner: Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare
Lead RTO partner: Swinburne University
Time: 2:00pm-2:30pm (AEST)
This session will show how the child, youth and family services industry sector is taking a dual approach to achieve cultural change. This approach involves building organisational capacity through a network of e-champions who act as change agents; and developing appropriate e-resources. This strate gy is based on a consultative partnerships model which brings together key stakeholders and encourages collaboration to maximise outcomes.
3. Electrical supply
Lead organisation: EE-Oz Training Standards (Industry Skills Council)
Lead employer partner: EnergyAustralia
Time: 3:00pm-3:30pm (AEST)
The electricity supply industry (ESI) is highly technical and heavily regulated. Historically, it has mainly used traditional training delivery and assessment methods. This session will provide information about the model being used to embed e-learning in ESI training regimes, and how e-learning is helping to minimise duplication of effort.
4. Baking
Lead organisation: Baking Manufacturers Industry Association of Australia
Lead RTO partner: Aspin Group
Time: 3:30pm-4:00pm (AEST)
This presentation will focus on how the baking industry sector is using e-learning to help meet the personal training needs of its business owners and senior managers. The approach was developed out of recognition that owners and managers often focus solely on training for their staff, and neglect their own professional development.
