Introducing The Squiz, Young Leaders Program special guest

Mark Squirrell, more commonly known as Squiz, was awarded the coveted  ”Green Beret” whilst serving with the Australian Commando’s. In 1999 he found himself in the heart of the east Timor crisis, but without a weapon or uniform. Squiz went to assist the people of East Timor with the American based NGO, International Rescue Committee.

The complex and challenging environment, coupled with enormous rewards of satisfaction, provided magical motivation for Squiz. It was to be the start of his humanitarian career which also included missions to Albania, Sudan and Afghanistan with the International Rescue Committee. In February 2003, Squiz moved across to the United Nations and was employed by the World Food Program as a Field Security Officer. For 18 months he worked in the complex environment of the West  Bank and Gaza Strip. In September 2004 he was transferred to work with WFP in Nepal. Squiz arrived at the height of the Maoist led insurgency and was at the forefront of providing an interface between the United Nations and those leading the Maoist uprising from within the remote districts of western Nepal.

During his holidays, Squiz took advantage of the Himalayan Mountains to learn about mountaineering. In 2006 he decided that Mount Everest would be a perfect platform to raise awareness of the hunger situation that he was dealing with on daily basis. Without any procrastinating he headed for the biggest mountain in the world and, after a six week ordeal, raised the WFP flag on the summit of Everest.

Towards the end of 2006 Squiz was then moved to Sri Lanka where he helped to ensure WFP could continue to provide the much needed food assistance in the areas by both the Government of Sri  Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of the Tamil Eelam. Squiz is now Melbourne based with www.globalfrontline.com.au

Aspin group is thrilled and privileged to have Mark Squirrell involved in the Young Leaders Program.  His life experience and skills gained as a humanitarian and extreme outdoorsman makes him the perfect candidate to present to young people wanting to step up into leadership and achieve their best.  Our program is equivalent to the highly regarded Certificate IV in Frontline Management and also attracts government funding making it even more appealing. The course aimed at 18-28y.o usually retails well over $3000.  Our course offers substantial savings.  We have worked hard with our team, trainers and special guests to present a course that will be delivered in a fun, dynamic, relevant and practical way.

So if you want to be a dynamic leader or like to show leadership at your work, club or group. Or if you have the right group of young people ready to take the next step in leadership & team leading contact us for more information on 1300 754 771 or email info@aspingroup.com.au

*This program is jointly funded by the federal government and Skills Victoria.
